This is my reddit captcha decoder made in java. You can see serveral steps of cleaning the image like noise reduction and filtering the pure characters as well as the eventual character recognition. It's not working very well got like ~0,5% scuccess rate on large scale tests which means 1 successful recognition each 200 captchas.
