Metal Cam Straps w/ 1 inch Flat Nylon
Metal Cam Strap made with 1 inch Flat Nylon Webbing. Flat nylon webbing 1 inch has a breaking strength of 3000 pounds with a thickness of 0.070 to 0.075 of an inch.Whether you need cargo management, trailer tie downs, ATV and motorcycle straps, or just straps for river rafting, Strapworks has the perfect solution to your Metal Cam Strap needs. The most common use for cam straps are a strap used to tie down or secure heavy loads, typically on trailers or in the bed of trucks. Cam buckle straps may be considered the "duct tape" of the strap world, but they do have limitations. A strap is only as strong as its weakest link. A guide line for finding a safe working load is to take the breaking strength and divide it by one third. For example, Strapworks flat nylon webbing 1 inch has a breaking strength of 3000 pounds, so a safe working load is 1000 pounds, except you have to consider the buckle and stitching, too. Your cam buckle options include: standard 1 inch (880 pounds), moto cam (1200 pounds) and the stainless steel (750 pounds). You also need to calculate your safe working load for your stitching. Strapworks engineers the stitching to meet the next weakest link (usually the buckle). When in doubt, buy 1 strap and test it for your application. Please keep in mind the characteristics of the different types of webbing when ordering straps. Cam Straps made with flat nylon webbing are a good choice for high abrasion applications. It is not recommended for use in or around water continuously because it is less water resistant, making it susceptible to mildew and rot. Cam Straps made with patterned polyester webbing are perfect for heavy loads with high abrasion. Polyester has the best attributes of flat nylon (abrasion resistance) and heavyweight polypropylene (UV protection, water resistance). Strapworks "Patterned Polyester" is polyester that has been sublimated. Sublimation is a process that virtually tattoos the ink into the webbing by turning a solid ink into a permeating gas. This process is done in house and it allows for great detail and vivid custom colorfast colors. Polyester is the only material we carry that is consistent in its ability to be sublimated. Cam Straps made with polyester webbing have the same attributes and characteristics as patterned polyester. Strapworks' polyester webbing is also sublimated, but is sublimated in solid colors. Polyester has all of the benefits of Flat Nylon, high breaking strength, high abrasion resistance, soft, smooth, and shiny. It also has the benefits of polypropylene, low water absorption, high UV protection, and it is also mildew and rot resistant. Cam Straps made with heavyweight polypropylene webbing are suitable for medium duty outdoor applications. Heavyweight polypropylene webbing has excellent UV protect and does not absorb water quickly giving it better better resistant to mildew and rot resistance. However, polypropylene does not have good abrasion resistance, so it is not recommended for use against rough edges. Cam Straps made with high tenacity polypropylene webbing have almost twice the breaking strength of our 1 inch heavyweight polypropylene webbing (900 lbs.). The thickness of this material is 0.070 of an inch. Its courser weave also grabs stronger in most of our buckles. Our High Tenacity Polypropylene webbing is currently available in an attractive black with a yellow tracer. Just like heavyweight polypropylene, this webbing is perfect for outdoor use. It has excellent UV protection and doesn't absorb water quickly giving it high resistance to rot & mildew. Cam Straps made with lightweight polypropylene webbing are ideally suited for outdoor light duty use. Other than breaking strength and webbing thickness, they have the same attributes as heavyweight polypropylene webbing. The sublimation process may take an extra 2-3 days to fulfill your order.
